The complex is planned in the lower terrace of the left bank of the Zeimena river which is located in the central part of Pabrade town. There is a functioning stadium in the territory today, a neglected outdoor skating rink, a neglected park, collective gardens and a cultural centre. After analysing the available territory, the cultural heritage of the town and the requirements established by the project, the concept of the „wade“ is chosen as the main architectural realisation element. The project seeks to improve existing functions, the healthy lifestyle of inhabitants, the recreational activities of the youth, cultural diffusion and the touristic infrastructure of the town.
„PABRADE PARK“ would be formed from the four main activity groups:1. health and fitness park (sports equipment) 2. cultural park (cultural centre) 3. tourism park (camping) 4. park of tranquillity (lime-trees, river)
A reconstruction of the existing stadium is planned. Renewing its roof, creating tracks and areas for track and field athletics, as well as building covered tribunes accommodating 1600 seats with premises for service personnel. Places for outdoors games are also planned – for tennis, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, skaters and bmx bicycles. The project also proposes the provision of premises for storing and renting boats, canoes and skis. The entrance to the tribunes and stadium is designed from Vilnius street, while reconstructed the existing commercial pavilions and connecting them into one larger complex. The existing cultural centre is reconstructed, enlarging and reorganising the concert hall, library, establishing learning-conference classes, as well as adjusting an inner yard-hall to collective town events; There is a suggestion to develop tourist services in the territory – constructing a water dock for tourists, a camping for tents and a 30 room motel with the parking place for caravans. A cafeteria-pizzeria is planned in this territory for local inhabitants; The town park that currently is somewhat chaotic is reconstructed organising paths, recreational zones, fountains and an outdoor chess square. The project suggests designing a parking lot of 175 parking places by developing the existing parking area close to the cultural centre.Status: feasibility study and conceptual design, 2008Location: Pabrade, Lithuania;Program: leasure and culture parkSite: 8.5 ha.Architects: Rokas.
